Cobham Satcom is pleased to announce that the new EXPLORER 510 has received Inmarsat Type Approval. This is a major milestone and underlines Cobham SATCOMs dedication to the Inmarsat BGAN network.

The EXPLORER 510 is an Inmarsat Class 2 BGAN terminal with a long list of new features and enhancements. The compact, contemporary design and low weight makes it an ideal tool for field communication.  The terminal draws from the established EXPLORER legacy, offering the same high-quality materials and manufacturing. The durable and lightweight magnesium casing and IP 66-compliance makes the EXPLORER 510 the perfect choice when in need of a reliable connection.

Cobham’s engineering team has focused on wireless connectivity, with WLAN as the primary interface on EXPLORER 510. To fully embrace this, they have developed a whole new way of connecting to and operating EXPLORER 510, via the innovative EXPLORER Connect App. With the EXPLORER Connect App available for Android and iOS users can use their own smart devices (and contacts) to make calls or easily access the internet. The Android App is available on Google Play and the IOS version will be available end of January on the Apple App store.

Inclusion of an USB host in EXPLORER 510 and an USB-to-Ethernet Adapter ensures users can choose wired RJ-45 interface. A new feature is support for the upcoming EXPLORER Cellular Modem expected to be available in second quarter 2015. Connect the optional EXPLORER Cellular Modem to the USB port and turn your EXPLORER 510 into a true SmartHub device. Use local cellular net when available and BGAN if no other option.
